On Wednesday, September 25th, 2019, the Dummerston 8th grade facilitated a whole school assembly. They first greeted classes as they arrived at the gym, then they led the whole school in a game. For the game, everyone had a card with an animal on it. They had to find other people who had the same animal, but they couldn’t talk or show anyone else their card, they could only act out their animal. After the students found their animal groups, they all sat in circles with their groups and acted out their animals one group at a time. The 8th graders then had some students stand up to be appreciated for times showed good citizenship. For example, one student was appreciated for helping her friend to the nurse's office. After the 8th graders finished the appreciations, the school band played a song and the newest member of Dummerston School came out and started dancing along. His name is Zam, and he is the Dummerston School mascot, an unknown creature wearing a Dummerston School jersey. After the song, Zam ran out high fiving people as he went. The assembly was fun-the 8th graders did a great job leading it and the rest of the school did a great job participating.
